THUMBS UP: 27/252!

After 27 hours of this blog’s “official launch” it went from having almost no views to having up to 252 views, in more than 10 different countries! More than I expected..
So, thank you to everyone who clicked and read, or simply just passed by. I’ll try to keep it up!

On your marks, get set, g... BLOG!

Have you ever been in a situation where you have a pen in one hand, a blank piece of paper in the other (where, of course, you’re supposed to write something on); then you tell your brain: “Hey brain, give me something to write about” and all you get as an answer is: “---”?

If you have experienced this, then you can understand how I’ve been feeling for the past hours trying to figure out what to write for my first post. If you haven’t, then lucky you! (..And please give me the ‘recipe’ for finding thoughts in, what seems to be, an empty head).

However... After locating my brain’s “On” switch, I managed to come up with what is now this blog’s very first post:

As I mentioned previously in my self-description, this next year I’ll be moving around the world a bit, because the third year of my International Marketing studies at Fontys University consists of doing an internship abroad, followed by a minor abroad. Yet, I skipped the ‘small detail’ of letting you know where I’ll be going to.

Basically, as students we were free to choose whatever company we wanted for the work placement (of course, always following certain requirements set by the university), and then for the minor abroad we could choose from various options; in this case I decided to go for picking two alternatives from a list of Fontys’ partner universities... Quite simple.

Around a month ago I found out that, for the minor abroad, I’ll be going to the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain.
Then, some days ago I received very good news, because I finally got a ‘yes’ from the organization I applied to for doing my internship. So, it turns out that in approximately 4 months my feet will be walking the lands of the “mysterious subcontinent of India”!(..Yes, INDIA!).

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose!

Meaning that in a couple of months we leave The Netherlands to cross the Atlantic Ocean to get home, to Guatemala. A few months later we cross the Pacific Ocean to land in (what is to me a completely unknown place) India. And, after 3 and ½ months of a “cow-meat free diet”, fly back here to Europe. And what better place to celebrate the accomplishment of finishing a work placement than Spain.

What am I expecting from these upcoming experiences?
It’s actually nice being able to have these opportunities, especially India, because two years ago (even a year ago) I wouldn’t have imagined going there; so it is pretty exciting. Then concerning my expectations... Lets be honest, nothing’s perfect so, as it normally happens, I'm expecting a lot of ups/downs, excitement/disappointment, happiness/sadness, surprises… Mainly: Uncertainty; anything can happen. You never know, but that's the fun part of it.
